„This has to be much more wide, and colourful and unique, you know what I mean? And that one guitar on the left, it should be more distorted, try it in a Pixies way, you know what I mean? No. More distorted. No! That's too much. Watch out, don't destroy the whole thing with the distortion, but still DON'T GET CHEESY, that's the worst thing to happen“, says the ghost in its pink, bloomy dress. Then without permission it takes my guitar and plays a couple of crooked notes. Anyway, for some minutes the ghost stops talking, it usually babbles in contradictions, bustles around, that i wrung its neck, if it had one.
„Stop daydreaming, good-for-nothing-weirdo, this world is absolutely NOT a bed of roses!“ The rowdy coo-coo smashes himself on the ground after every sentence he says, which makes a sound as if he weighed hundreds of kilos. „What does the artist want to tell us? The whole thing needs ass, that's all. Come on, go ahead girl. For how long do you wanna fuss with that seven songs? That's awkward. You're not getting any younger either.“ He looks down on me with his monobrowed eyes. „Obviously not.“
Then he goes on roaring and rumbling. „Fuck it all! Come on give me the sticks!“
With shaky fingers i give him the sticks. He records it all in a few minutes, but plays really bad, out of sync and much too fast and I have a lot of work editing it afterwards. What a brute! I would kill him, if I wasn't scared, he could kill me back.
One fish is very shy, it swims around my head since days, looking like it wants to tell me something, but doesn't dare. Finally mumbles with a low and fragile voice: „What about some counter voices? Wouldn't that be nice? I could maybe do something like...“ and it’s rather politeness, than free will, that makes me want to record the fish.
But certainly all the other fishes come in swarms. „And what about choirs!“ They don't await the answer, but sing, talk and laugh and it's getting hard to get anything done, pink ghost is still babbling, coo-coo's still roaring, that it becomes deafening loud in the rehearsal room.
„Let me pass, let me pass!“ One fish swims up to me in a tempo, as if it was a matter of life and death, wide-eyed and out of breath: „STOP IT. It's too much and everything’s a mess, it's awkward. Nobody must ever hear that!“
Immediately it's getting quiet in the cellar and all the eyes are focused on me, as if it was my turn to speak, now after all these months...
Dutiful, but honest:
“Leave me alone”.
It's getting even more quiet, you can hear the creatures glances fall on the ground. Some blush, some hem, one even laughs...
Then it's the shy fish, who rises to speak: „Sorry, I really don’t mean to denounce you, but noone on earth can be alone.“
